Kid Maroon graphic novel announced

The hard-boiled boy detective has a book this next September!

If you read my newsletter regularly, you know the rough beginnings of this noir project I drew with script by the great Chris Cantwell. Although it was initially going to be a miniseries, Vault decided to turn the project into a graphic novel, and finally it has been announced in Aiptcomics, and it will be published this September.

“Courtesy of Vault Comics, AIPT can share the entire first issue of Kid Maroon #1, along with the announcement of the OGN coming this September. Written by Christopher Cantwell (Halt and Catch Fire, Iron Man, Doctor Doom), drawn by Victor Santos (Polar, Violent Love), colored by Mattia Iacono (Kid Venom, The Dead Lucky), lettered by Andworld Design (The Many Deaths of Laila Starr), and designed by Adam Cahoon (The Nasty), the OGN comes in a oversized deluxe format with french flaps, foil treatment, and high-end paperstock.

Originally created by Shepard in 1944, the daily Kid Maroon comic strip focused on a hard-boiled boy detective who investigates horrendous crimes in his hometown of Crimeville. The series quickly attracted significant controversy, as the stories drew on Shepard’s nihilistic outlook, penchant for violence, and obsession with bathtub laudanum.”

The physical book is going to be gorgeous, I drew a new cover and I think it’s my favourite Kid drawing ever. So I think we will get something positive of these initial problemas we had, and thanks to this “transformation” of the project you will be able to enjoy a new super-cool edition.

Now the hard work begins, because the preorders are very important, so in future newsletters I will put the relevant links if you want to order now. Right now are hard times to edit a comic, especially creator-owned, and I think that acts of courage deserve to be rewarded. This is one of the works I'm most proud of, a real love letter to comics as a medium, so I'm going to fight for it.
